    MXroute :: Beta Announcement

    Good thoughts! Currently plan is that security will not be so strong as to eliminate the required layer of trust between the user and myself. Consider your security to be that of a strong shared hosting provider. A lot of people give shared hosting providers hell, but considering the size and...

    MXroute :: Beta Announcement

    SSL installed. Webmail link forced to https. Two browsers and cache cleared in each, https link isn't working for me. Ryan says it works. I quit for the "night" :P

    MXroute :: Beta Announcement

    Good call. There is a self signed cert there. Later today I'll make sure it directs to https. I'll have a cert signed by a trusted authority soon as well, just not too worried about it at first test phase.

    MXroute :: Beta Announcement

    Provision error #1 :P Haha. Ryan is checking it out. He's the WHMCS integration master here. It's quite a bit of customization to force it to do e-mail domains only.

    MXroute :: Beta Announcement

    Roundcube, IMAP, SMTP. Slightly custom (more coming) Vesta interface. WHMCS integration customized by Ryan. Right now it isn't much to look at, but gotta get make sure we have the basics down as well as we think we do before we start implementing the more fun features I've got in mind :)

    MXroute :: Beta Announcement

    Hi everyone! I would like to announce my latest project and seek a few beta testers. I've been planning out this new product for a while, and I am announcing the first beta stage of MXroute. MXroute is an e-mail hosting service. You bring your domain, you let us handle the server and the...

    VPN.sh - $7/year - 100GB - 17 Locations

    Yep. Liam is one of the classiest individuals around these parts, and he runs an excellent service. I'd recommend it to anyone.

    Smultron. Best editor I ever used. Cyber duck is good. Mostly I use nano over ssh to be perfectly honest. Remote everything.

    FreeBSD Jails

    Just saw this, sorry. It's more about how you think and how you like to handle things at the end of the day. I like the idea of focusing on the entire package, which later on we started seeing Linux distributions do, though not to the same degree as BSD and many would say that's a positive. But...

    FreeBSD Jails

    I think the bulk of it is that linux pretty much won the hobbyist and DIY web server markets. I love BSD, but I just find less and less people who have the patience to learn it. If I had to pick which Unix variant would've been the popular one, I'd have picked BSD. But...the people have spoken.

    Install LXC + Web Panel on Ubuntu 13.04 w/NAT

    Agreed. Although the initial hurdle of understanding it is a tad more steep than the way this panel handles LXC. I'd recommend anyone new to it start with this and then give docker a try, so that they have a better understanding of it's foundation. May just be me though, maybe docker makes more...

    Install LXC + Web Panel on Ubuntu 13.04 w/NAT

    My take is that it just isn't mature enough to replace OpenVZ for selling containers. Can be done, of course, just has a few quirks with resource limitations from time to time, and in general doesn't feel like it's built for the kind of isolation and administration that OpenVZ is. For personal...

    Install LXC + Web Panel on Ubuntu 13.04 w/NAT

    Kicking off my new blog, blog.jarland.me, with a guide for something that I have enjoyed recently. I know some other hobbyists here might enjoy the experiment in something they may not have done before. So I thought I'd share. Sometimes OpenVZ is more than I want on a dedicated server...

    Running your own zpanel instance

    Thanks for posting the guide. Tip in your direction, from another person who hates every ugly POS panel that requires more work than the CLI does in the first place, VestaCP. I even purchased their support package, love it that much.

    BitCoins for dummies. How to get started with them?

    I turned my focus to litecoin and it seems more likely to actually get results from CPU mining and light GPU mining. Earning about 0.01 per day without putting much effort into it. Fun to learn, makes me feel better about putting effort into it if I choose to.

    Why would you go to HF for white hat and end up thinking, after observing the dominant culture, think there was any reason to advertise there other than to make a buck at any cost? I literally got every bit of that experience without HF. In a relatively short time frame too. I mean you can learn...
