Yeah stiffed to many times.  Too many hoops to jump through.

Rebate is such an odd word.   Base word = bate?

: to reduce the force or intensity of : restrain <with bated breath>
2
: to take away : deduct
3
archaic : to lower especially in amount or estimation
4
archaic : blunt
intransitive verb
obsolete : diminish, decrease
See bate defined for kids »
Origin of BATE
Middle English, short for abaten to abate
First Known Use: 14th century

So to deduct again? To decrease again?  Doesn't make sense.

I've only ever done one rebate - it was with EVGA for a video card.

Stated 6-8 weeks for processing which is standard for that sort of thing. After 10 weeks I still had to call them for the payment I was supposed to receive. Needless to say, never doing that again.

I've done a few.

Alas, the debates don't mean much to us since they'll be limited to 1 - 2 which doesn't help when you buy 30 - 40 of them.

I can't remember the last time we bought anything off amazon and was offered a rebate, though.

Newegg does once in a while but usually amazon is within a couple bucks and they give us zero issues.

I still haven't figured out how to use this $10 prepaid VISA Netgear sent me. Any time I try to use it it says "GIMME PIN". The hoops for a mere $10 are so annoying though.

I do rebates. My policy is, though, buy the item, send in the stuff for the rebate (following the instructions as closely as possible), then forget about it. Don't expect to see anything come back. Then, two months down the road, hey, $10 in my mailbox! When it comes (as it usually does) in the form of a prepaid AMEX/VISA/whatever, I do one of two things. I might do a PayPal "donation" to myself in the amount of the card. Some fees, sure, but I don't have half a dozen such cards laying around with a few cents on them. Or, I'll buy an Amazon (or Newegg, or whatever) gift card for the amount. Full usage, no fees.

PayPal says they support prepaid cards now, but what that entails I haven't looked in to yet.

That has always been my issue. I hate the prepaid cards with a passion. They are a pain to use and not everyone takes them. I used one at the gas station and they gave me a full ID check. I've never had to do that in my life before.

I usually deal with rebates when possible. No, I'm not the SD'er person who buys 5 of one item, sends in the rebates and then flips them on eBay.

No I don't buy anything with a rebate, even if it's a good deal without the rebate, since if I send in the rebate coupon I'm agreeing to all kinds of invasive bullshit uses of the data I send, and if I don't send the coupon I'm doing exactly what they hope for and thereby playing into their game.  There's always a comparable product with no rebate so I buy that instead, even if it costs a little more.

Used to, but way too much hassle and I would rather find it online cheaper and sent to my door with no additional hoops to jump through. I used to shop at Fry's Electronics, but it seemed like every sale was a rebate, so I stopped going in there.

I probably do about 20% of the rebates on things I buy.  Definitely too many hoops to jump through, generally for a very small $5 or $10 payback.  I generally just purchase products without rebates these days, or don't even take them into account when shopping.

Rebates are never worth it for us. They're almost always limited to very small quantities that does not applies when buying per lots. I do not even recall we've ever used one for personal use.

I do it every time. Have never had any issues. Just fill it out and send it in with the requirements and a few weeks later I get my money.
