Possibly. I certainly hope so! I used to have ComCast, and let me say -- they are the vain of my existence.

That being said, I currently get internet from my local municipality which runs a fiber network. It's a small town, so obviously wont be up for Google Fiber anytime soon, but I've always been curious how Google would handle a local municipal ISP. Do you think they would compete with that ISP or do you think they would figure out some sort of merger, or to share bandwidth? I know my local ISP gets their backbone from LSN Networks, do you think instead they might team with Google?

While i understand that saying ISP's in the US suck ass is an understatement, I'm not sure why you'd want to RENT a service from a company that completely rapes your online presence in terms of integrity.

Does anyone have a link to the 34 tentative cities?

I'm not thrilled that the NSA, I mean Google is the company doing this rollout.  However, Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, etc. aren't much better.  Same bad actors.

I would only switch if they have native IPv6, I've started relying more and more on IPv6 and I won't be dropping Comcast for an ISP that doesn't have it regardless of the speed.
