Like I said Sharedclub is not a average shared hosting host. Its all about performance. We have a promise, Every customer gets 256MB of ram. To put it simple, we put 4 or less clients per 1GB of Server RAM. With other providers its at least 4X more than us. Dont get us wrong, we are running a simple setup. Servers are on Seattle United States and connected to the internet at 1Gbps.

The recurring price ends up being $8.99. Do we have to open up a ticket for the 40% off discount?

Is that 256MB RAM limit for PHP or for the user's account? I assume that you're running CloudLinux?

Nah. We keep it really simple. No CloudLinux I dont really like sites getting slow when you are getting reddited or something so no. Actually its just that we place 4 clients per 1GB of server ram. We don't actually have anyway of proving this to the masses for now except showing up the WHM logs so yes one can say we are just lying about this but no :) We hope to write some code to illustrate this to the customer as time goes on.

@Ruchirablog We've tried running shared hosting like that. The problem was that some clients really like their WP or Drupal plugins allot, especially those poorly written PHP backup plugins and when they run they will cause high CPU usage. All good so far. So we disabled the PHP functions that those plugins were using. Well, then customers got upset. Then customers wanted to be able run more than 1 PHP version on cPanel and control their PHP settings in more detail. I have not liked CloudLinux for a very long time, but I must say that since 2011 it came a very long way. So we deployed CloudLinux on our shared hosting nodes, gave customers a good amount of resources and now they are happier than ever. They can run anything from PHP 5.2 all the way up to 5.5, they have no PHP functions disabled, I/O is better controlled per account and so on. If you haven't tried CloudLinux in a while, give it another shot, you might like it.

Yeah that's true. Running different PHP versions can be a advantage but average users really doesn't know about it. And yeah to be honest I haven't tried CloudLinux in a while, and I know that it helps to isolate the problems from spreading through the whole server but when it comes to performance it might not help. Since our model is about performance hosting and the price tag its a serious thing to consider :)

But thanks for the advice. I will look in to CloudLinux again and see what we can adopt to improve the service :)

I am little confused. So assuming your server has 8GB RAM and 32 clients (as you suggested), any client can consume up to 8GB RAM (or as much available) for having no limits set?

We are placing 32 clients per 8GB RAM yes you are right. And there aren't any hard limits of what you can consume it just means that we pack 4 clients per every 1GB of server RAM.  But practically if you need 8GB RAM worth of resources you probably need a dedicated server :)
