Vepp - New Website/Server Management Software. Feedback Needed

Hi there everyone,

I’m from ISPsystem — the company develops software for hosting since 2004. Right now, we’re working on Vepp, the software for managing websites on a VPS, dedicated server, or in a cloud. Existing hosting panels are good and full of features but more focused on hosting and admins. Vepp is more simple, faster, and requires fewer tech skills, which is good for inexperienced users.

Alpha testing

We plan to launch Vepp later in 2019. However, we’d like to invite the vpsBoard community to test its alpha now. It’s important for us to know professional opinion on software logic, user-friendliness, and UI. Vepp is now available for testing as SaaS: www.vepp.com. To start testing, you need a clean server with root access and CentOS 7. It may be a small VPS from your hosting provider.

The concept of Vepp

When developing Vepp and working on its UI we took global trends into account. The number of websites keeps increasing. Site builders become more and more popular. CMSs get easier to use. All in all, people need less technical skills to manage a website. Vepp is a solution for those who need all the benefits of CMS but don’t want to face complicated server settings.

Example. It takes only one click to set up a website in Vepp. You only need to enter a domain name. Vepp will add a domain on web server level for you. It will also automatically create a database and install the latest PHP version.

Another example. Connect your server to Vepp. Vepp will order a free Let’s Encrypt certificate for your domain. You can later change the domain settings and add another SSL if needed.

Would be grateful for your feedback on the product or hypotheses!

We have already told about our new panel Vepp, announced news from the development team and further plans, and offered to test the SaaS version.

Today, we are pleased to announce the official release of Vepp. Now, providers can install the control panel on their equipment and offer it to customers.
You can read more about the concept, plans, and prices in our large preview. Now we will briefly describe only 4 important facts about Vepp. It performs the following operations:
  1. Creates a website from the WordPress template in three clicks.
  2. Allows a service provider to sell domains and allows a user to manage them.
  3. Installs a free SSL certificate, configures mail, and makes backups.
  4. Informs about problems with the website and advises how to solve them.

Hi @Pavel
interesting software, but there are many others similar software available, what's make it different?

Vepp helps do the same things that ISPmanager/Plesk/cPanel allowed to do but easier. Due to our new concept and design many tools in Vepp look and work differently. Vepp is suitable for users who are not specialists in administration but want to manage their WordPress website.

You compare it with the old school panel,
what's your advantage over runcloud, cloudways, serverpilot, ploi, etc?

We live in 2019 where Ubuntu server is deployed everywhere, but you only support for CentOS/RHEL?
How about Nginx, is it also supported?

We compare Vepp with the popular control panels, that have been on the market for years and have thousands of users.

Now we use Nginx and Apache, which work together. Nginx accepts requests and transfers them to Apache processing. So far, such a configuration is best suited for WordPress to work correctly. However, we have plans to expand the capabilities of the webserver.

Ubuntu will be available by the end of 2019.
