Looking for some Benchmarks and a KVM

Okay first I am looking into Crissic's offer for their OpenVZ plans. I know they are located in Jacksonville but I have not been able to find any credible reviews or benchmarks other then what they post themselves. I am hoping some one will be nice to post some, run on their machines. Prefer to have them run on different nodes not the same ones.

Secondly I am looking for a 512 MB 15gig 200gb bandwidth KVM. I need to have Slackware 14 iso's to be able to be loaded. Needs to have at least one ipv4 and one ipv6. I will warn you I will be using this box for building packages and making templates. So if you do not want me to use the disk a lot or the CPU a lot you might not want to post.

No CC offers for the KVM. I do not think they have ipv6 at all but just stating that anyways.

I currently have two VPS with Crissic Solutions that I purchased last month. One is a 512MB plan, and the other is a 1GB plan. l haven't had any issues at all, and the support has been amazing. Unfortunately, they don't have many reviews that I can find, but if you look at the offers they have posted at LEB and LET, you can see that many users have commented saying they are happy with the services. With that said, I have one benchmark that I ran on my 1GB plan, but keep in mind that this benchmark was ran AFTER I had installed a few things.

Hope that helps :)

Container benchmarks are rather useless. I still glance at them, but I don't put as much faith in them as I use to.

Crissic is pretty good.  Have used a VPS there (have other US East locations I prefer --- more peering, closer to my interests geographically).

Ticketing is REAL fast when any problems occur at Crissic.   Been plenty of fun comments about the quickness of their support.

Right now I think Crissic is allocating resources on their new servers with faster CPUs.  Know there were a few recent new servers rolled out.

On the homepage ---> 10 day money back guarantee.

Not much to risk there :)

Nice new node specs:

All new nodes are provisioned with Dual X5660 CPU’s (Hex Core 2.80Ghz CPU’s), 96GB of Memory, and 12 (yes TWELVE) Western Digital RE4′s on a hardware raid card Dell H700. This will be our primary node setup moving forward.
I'd ask Crissic about CPU usage though if you plan to do anything really intensive.  In his last LEB offer he said, :"CPU is restricted basically at 100% of 1CPU core for 24/7 usage."

Just wanted to make sure what they posted was the real deal. I like to do my research before diving anymore. Been burned too many times before and have seen too many burned lately as well is all. No doubt @SkylerM is a stand up guy and tries his best just trying to get a feel for a new company is all. The 1GB deal is almost to good to pass up and I think it is going into my basket right here soon. :)

Nah the OpenVZ is just for some  sites is all. Nothing major really. The KVM is the work horse of the bunch. ;)

Skylar is a good dude and active in various communities.   He runs a good company and is big on transparency.  Even when it's something unfavorable like recent node issues and fsck's that took too long to run.

If you have a problem with Crissic, feel free to come back and say where things came up short, if he doesn't resolve it outright.

He's learned from his past mistakes, he's not a bullshit artist, and he seems to have a solid business head on his shoulders.  All 3 of those qualities are rare in the low end world, so +1 (that being said, Jacksonville doesn't fit into my current needs so I  won't be using Crissic unless my needs change or they expand to a location that I need).

fsck's that took too long to run.
fsck's on large 12 disk arrays take a long time...several hours.

I'd like to attribute the FSCK to growing pains. Long story short we hit a few upper limits on a node at-capacity that we honestly never expected to hit that caused the node to seize and roll over, resulting in a FSCK that took way too long. Had a RAM issue on JAX02 the other day that resulted in a FSCK as well, but that was fortunately about half the time. RAM was replaced, and all is well.

These new nodes are pretty good. We're still stretching it out a bit and seeing what we find as comfortable. The limits issue mentioned earlier have been dramatically increased, and I don't foresee any other issues such as that now that we've hammered out a few numbers that needed tweaked.

At present we have about 10 of the older C1100's online (a mix of dual 5520's and dual 5639's) and 4 of our newer Dual X5660 12 disk array nodes online, with a 5th one being shipped in as we speak (Friday it looks like). The old hardware is in queue to be upgraded, and we're not provisioning on anything but our latest spec boxes. Quite happy with how these nodes are playing out, and we have upgrade room on these to add SSD caching in the future (hopefully before or around our 1 year mark in April).

We've had a FEW (1-2?) reviews on LET/WHT in the past, but most of it is tied to simple comments and short snippets here and there. If people want to write reviews I'd be very happy, but I honestly won't go out of my way asking for them. I try to let our service quality, transparency, and support speak for itself :)

Appreciate the kind words :) Learn from the mistakes, don't run and hide from them. Running a business on lies and deceit just isn't something I'd ever be interested in.

I'd ask Crissic about CPU usage though if you plan to do anything really intensive.  In his last LEB offer he said, :"CPU is restricted basically at 100% of 1CPU core for 24/7 usage."
VPSMON will limit you if you use specific CPU amounts for extended periods of time (usually talking like 15 minutes for 3-4 CPU, 30 for 2-3, so on. That's a rough estimate though). As long as you keep it to about 100% of 1 CPU core for 24/7 use then it's good. We don't do anything silly like sell you 4 CPU cores and say you can only burst 50% of it or you're suspended. We review CPU abuse and manually suspend if we feel we need to.

Edit: Sorry if I hijacked this :p Wasn't my intent!

You did not hijack anything. :)  Always welcome a provider's view and clarification on things, especially when they give it on threads like these. I did not mean to seem harsh or anything @SkylarM, just letting people know I am picky on who gets my business anymore.

I respect you for standing up and saying "Hey guys I messed up and I am back, only this time I have learned a few things and will not make the same mistakes." You seem to have @drmike's and @Domainbop's seal of approval as well. Two members that hold a lot of weight with me.

I think I have the information I need on Crissic guys thank you all. :)

Now to find me a KVM that matches my needs. ;)

Not harsh in the slightest! I like it when potential clients are well informed and picky, especially if they are particular to a few things and then go with us then it means I must be doing SOMETHING right ;)

Well I guess no one is interested in selling me a KVM. That is just as well I suppose.

I should probably look into getting a cheap 10-20 dollar dedi anyways. Probably would be best for this project.

Thank you everyone for your help. :)
