Skylar is a good dude and active in various communities. He runs a good company and is big on transparency. Even when it's something unfavorable like recent node issues and fsck's that took too long to run.
If you have a problem with Crissic, feel free to come back and say where things came up short, if he doesn't resolve it outright.
I'd like to attribute the FSCK to growing pains. Long story short we hit a few upper limits on a node at-capacity that we honestly never expected to hit that caused the node to seize and roll over, resulting in a FSCK that took way too long. Had a RAM issue on JAX02 the other day that resulted in a FSCK as well, but that was fortunately about half the time. RAM was replaced, and all is well.
These new nodes are pretty good. We're still stretching it out a bit and seeing what we find as comfortable. The limits issue mentioned earlier have been dramatically increased, and I don't foresee any other issues such as that now that we've hammered out a few numbers that needed tweaked.
At present we have about 10 of the older C1100's online (a mix of dual 5520's and dual 5639's) and 4 of our newer Dual X5660 12 disk array nodes online, with a 5th one being shipped in as we speak (Friday it looks like). The old hardware is in queue to be upgraded, and we're not provisioning on anything but our latest spec boxes. Quite happy with how these nodes are playing out, and we have upgrade room on these to add SSD caching in the future (hopefully before or around our 1 year mark in April).
Unfortunately, they don't have many reviews that I can find, but if you look at the offers they have posted at LEB and LET, you can see that many users have commented saying they are happy with the services.
We've had a FEW (1-2?) reviews on LET/WHT in the past, but most of it is tied to simple comments and short snippets here and there. If people want to write reviews I'd be very happy, but I honestly won't go out of my way asking for them. I try to let our service quality, transparency, and support speak for itself
He's learned from his past mistakes, he's not a bullshit artist, and he seems to have a solid business head on his shoulders. All 3 of those qualities are rare in the low end world, so +1 (that being said, Jacksonville doesn't fit into my current needs so I won't be using Crissic unless my needs change or they expand to a location that I need).
Appreciate the kind words
Learn from the mistakes, don't run and hide from them. Running a business on lies and deceit just isn't something I'd ever be interested in.
I'd ask Crissic about CPU usage though if you plan to do anything really intensive. In his last LEB offer he said, :"CPU is restricted basically at 100% of 1CPU core for 24/7 usage."
VPSMON will limit you if you use specific CPU amounts for extended periods of time (usually talking like 15 minutes for 3-4 CPU, 30 for 2-3, so on. That's a rough estimate though). As long as you keep it to about 100% of 1 CPU core for 24/7 use then it's good. We don't do anything silly like sell you 4 CPU cores and say you can only burst 50% of it or you're suspended. We review CPU abuse and manually suspend if we feel we need to.
Edit: Sorry if I hijacked this
Wasn't my intent!
