See the Ikea Lack hack is meh. I had some of those side tables a decade ago and they are glue/particle board shitola.  Not durable at all. Never used them as a rack thing, couldn't imagine doing so. You'd do better buying some proper wood if you like the concept.

can always buy angle steel with standard holes predrilled.  4 pieces of it for corners and a few small sections to cross brace things. there are telco rail racks too that are sort of similar.  they are 2 or 4 post setup.  they look weak but aren't.   been using both approaches for decades...

All of these are junkie  when looking at things solely from VPS world where smart folks bundle a stack of drives per server.  Most of these top out at  around 3 drives per actual server. Soooooooooo..... if using these and liking redundant drives then need fast backplane connector to something...

Like most folks around here, I've been piled up with VPS accounts all over for years.   VPS services are swell, but for me more than a few is a time sewer.   Even the near instant provisioning of Digital Ocean gets a bit tiring and scripting things for a public exposed full server is just meh...

People still use Windows :) ? I have one plugged in Windows XP portable just in case I need something in Windows land.  It remains on, but disconnected from network.
