    The cesspit / chat thread.

Looks alright aside from 150 API per hour call limit... and that the API isn't for the device itself but rather to their website where they are siloing your data.

Linux CCTV / camera / security cobblers here?

Decent machine there and high res... More resources than I'd expect :( Overhead is just ZoneMinder out of the box, nothing additional complexity / addons / etc.? Definitely going to give the ARM variant a spin and see what we can make it do.

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Does this device have any API / local / on your own PC ability?  Or is it all command and control on their remote servers?

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Top of Spamhaus recently have really been racking the numbers up... Seems that we maybe have stirred the hornets nest and have perps on the move.  Entities like MS should get serious quick and might start caring more than they have about abuse.

Linux CCTV / camera / security cobblers here?

Do we have any resident cobblers / DIY types who are using Linux for CCTV / security related? I mean legit Linux DIY not premade embedded systems. I am fussing with some China dump wifi cameras (read cheap).  Quite interesting little units for the price (bound to be more like them). ~ $15 a...

Any review of Virpus after they bought by WOW?

Sorry about your bad luck. I tell companies to retain containers and data as long as reasonable.  Usually preferred a month... Often in practice two weeks (their constraints and preference). I've had the same pay after the destruction experience with other providers.  Shortcoming of the...

Aruba Cloud: Choosing the correct size

Well definitely interested in more benchmarks and hearing about how your cloud solution differs from run-of-the-mill VPS.  Toss the freevps script through the paces since it's commonly referred to (although flawed and incomplete as can be). wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o...

Aruba Cloud: Choosing the correct size

... and I thought I had read this OP content elsewhere :) http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1562072&p=9666618 Just playing fair, there are rules and proper etiquette here and any community that is intending to not be overridden by mass of hit-and-run spam / advertising dumps...

Aruba Cloud: Choosing the correct size

See @DomainBop exactly.  They should hire some competence and clearly have in other disciplines.   Heck you've done a far better job representing them than OP has. But for some reason a rep comes here to spam crud straight out of the gate.  Useless crud at that.   Math and measure that just...

Aruba Cloud: Choosing the correct size

... and while I prefer Nginx, the whole idea that Apache is so bloated on RAM usage vs. Nginx is a bit outdated. Today Nginx is probably bloated in comparison to more hungry upstarts that stick to the basics.

Aruba Cloud: Choosing the correct size

The advertorial is a mess. Ignoring language issues, there are references to S, M, L but these remain undefined variables in your programming. Telling someone or inferring that package S will suffice to serve hundreds of 'people' at the same time is suicide.  If we sustain say 150 users and...

Help building low-power server with e-sata raid

I'd be interested in build notes / photos on your A20 + 5 drive setup. How long have you been running it and how reliable has it been so far?

Help building low-power server with e-sata raid

Definitely interesting boards.  However, pricing on these has them up above Intel complete NUC and J1900 type boards with full cases and all. Not kicking either effort, just unsure if the value is there to justify those asking prices or even 50% of such.

Aruba Cloud: Choosing the correct size

So first post here is a thinly veiled ad dressed up as a hypothetical estimator of needs? Not the best way to start here.

    The cesspit / chat thread.

From the WHT thread: "I doubt you'll see any provider advertise that they oversell. If they're using OpenVZ, then that's a possibility, but generally the provider's that are highly recommended here, you won't have any problems with." I know for a fact Crissic promoted their overselling as...

Burning ISO to USB flash drive in Debian / Ubuntu / Linux

I like many here do a lot of OS installs.   Still mainly burning ISOs to discs (CD or DVD).  It's wasteful and pain to organize.  Sure PXE would be ideal, some day :) Long been meaning to find out how to put little flash sticks to good use since most modern computers support booting from USB...

    Tesla Model 3 Officially Unveiled!

Finally something for the masses, well at least a larger segment of the monetarily challenged. Looks good.  I wonder about that full windshield that goes nearly to the trunk, seems like an expensive replacement part. I'll never by a Tesla until there understand co-generation and why it...

    ARM device to replace desktop?

Sad, but all these ARM boards tend to quite well under Android, where the hardware is actually supported and video accelerated instead of being CPU bounded. How does your C1+ do for browsing?  How about the dreaded YouTube on it? Actually running YouTube on it in high definition?  I am...
