The coolest thing about being a provider is seeing all the projects, businesses, etc that people use their servers for.   (And of course helping them in suggesting solutions to meet their objectives.)

If cost is a concern, there's always webmin/virtualmin.

Check.  :D Especially for larger customers -- no processing fees lost!

(rant) We got to be their guinea pig about 12 or so years ago as they devised the standard.  We had a client on our shared hosting platform using a perl shopping cart system who's account got breached through a hole in the cart.  CC data he was storing was compromised but visa had NO clue about...

So why do you usually choose OpenVZ?    It is simply that its usually cheaper or is there some feature/function that draws you to it?

The openvz vs kvm debate recurs over and over...  (full disclosure, my preference is Xen). At this point, there seems to be very little differentiation between the two in pricing.  So as a consumer, I cannot understand why if price is out of the equation that you would consider choosing openvz...

Quite excited.  MT's grid hosting is one of the few products in the shared space that compares to our load balanced shared hosting.  Being a savvier crowd, hopefully there will be a flow of clients who don't want to be under the care of GoDaddy and head off looking for greener pastures....

Hopefully OVH proved this to everyone, though I for one am not holding my breath on that.

+1 for microsoft security essentials, or otherwise avoiding windows when possible.  virtualbox works great for times that you really need to get something done under windows, and then it can be shut down.
