As far as the downtime / packet loss - are you testing based on ICMP? They will frequently block all ICMP during attacks, which threw off our own tests for quite awhile until we figured out what was going on. As far as testing loss, I rely on mtr's UDP setting now, and ensure that UDP is clear...
We've kicked around the idea of allowing bitcoin... and in the future may do so for trusted clients. But to be brutally honest - the people that advocate the loudest for bitcoin are a good portion of why I'm against offering it. Mainly by association of knowing the things these (s)kids have...
...I don't think you really know what 'offshore' or 'free' means in this case. I hope for your sake you don't go with 'offshore' hosting in an attempt to evade any local laws.
I have... quite a bit to say about CNServers. And very little of it is pleasant. Publicly, I'll state that they are adequate for a single user with a VERY specific project, but I absolutely cannot recommend them as a provider reselling the service.
Staminus we got off to a bumpy start with...
It's like I said before...
It's sad, too. I used to have hope for this kid turning out alright.. but the crash course in Fabozzi Public Relations is way too obvious. Pretty much blew his chance of ever being a real provider.
You may be on to something there, Skylar. I wonder if Biloh and Fabozzi are having a lovers' spat, and GVH here is the new boy brought in as a rebound.
Heh, since Fran doesn't do tickets directly, and clients primary deal with Anthony and I... we'd be pretty fucked on that one :P "Choose your favourite between Hitler or Stalin..."
Ditto. Spamhaus is very easy to work with... quite often, one of the guys there will just call or email me directly, and let me take care of the issue instead of putting a listing.
They're pretty well aware of CC's intentional selling to spammers at this point :P
In case you haven't noticed, CC has been involved with illegal activity for quite some time.
Yeah, it's pretty much at the point you have to wonder if he keeps saying this in a desperate attempt to convince himself. Like I said before though - there'll never be any proof posted to back his...
This says it all right here. My absolute favourite is how he kept trying to claim this thread was good publicity, when we've already heard folks go "I know nothing of GHV before this thread, but after reading this mess I won't touch them with a barge pole".
Well, that's kinda the point behind...
My prediction: 3 months from now, "Oh my bad I misread all those posts, we really are just a sub-brand of CC. And I have perfect eyes and a 40" monitor too.. damn.."
Seriously, you had to try and brag about a cellphone? O_o Just how sad is your life that you have to keep begging for approval...
You nailed it with the pre-existing stigma. ColoCrossing is pretty much synonymous with deceit nowadays - one of the bigger examples being that they bought out the lowend(talk|box).com community (which used to be known for fairness) and ran it in private, secretly promoting their own brands...
Anytime I get linked to LEB, all I ever see is all of the CC sub-brands, with the occassional independant provider mixed in. If they actually imposed some sort of limit based on ownership, you'd see weeks, if not months, roll by between new posts.
A couple years ago I remember a lot of folks giving Fran hell for letting me be so strict with my fraud checks. Now everyone wants to be on board :P
Seriously though, it's good to see an initiative like this gaining ground.
