Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

@jcaleb that I don't know, however I think that lots of people make lots of assumptions about them and I don't understand why. Just vote with your wallet ;) - because a product doesn't sell the provider will discard or change it.

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

@jcaleb I know, it's all assumption and gossip and who really cares. The bottom line is that if you care about what you're hosting and you rely on it you go with something more reliable. Heck, even CVPS offers Xen at reasonable prices, so why not just go with that instead?

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

Yes, it's HyperThreading so it's 12 cores. Linux shows 24 because that's what HT does, lies to the OS that you have more cores than you do basically. Even Intel said that HT by itself takes a minuscule area of the CPU die. On the first P4 that it was released on it took only 15%... compound how...

    Web based email

@jcaleb should be plenty :) I used RoundCube before switching to Google Apss and loved it. It's very leightweight and pleasant to work with, and if you get into it's config deep enough it has a cool email password changing feature that generates strong hashes.

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

@kaniini we run e5 2620 and e5 2609 nodes with 128GB RAM with SSD caching (Cache Cade Pro 2.0) for both Xen and KVM, and they are great. From 128 to 192 it's just one step :) IMHO small nodes aren't worth the money anymore, especially for Xen. [edit] Microrant: It just kills me when I see...

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

@ it depends allot on the provider, facility, hardware, virtualization technology and so on. Xen is awesome for balanced performance, and the results are very predictable. We set up all our Xen packages to progresively double the resources for the previous package and we have also switched to...

    [EXCLUSIVE] TortoiseLabs - 512MB RAM / 30GB DISK / 1000M UNMETERED - $6.75/month

@kaniini what do you use for throttleing the I/O ? :)

    [EXCLUSIVE] TortoiseLabs - 512MB RAM / 30GB DISK / 1000M UNMETERED - $6.75/month

@jarland Xen artificially limits I/O per VPS so that every VPS has enough of it. It's one of the reasons, amongst others, why allot of people still love Xen :)

    [EXCLUSIVE] TortoiseLabs - 512MB RAM / 30GB DISK / 1000M UNMETERED - $6.75/month

@jarland I/O for a DomU (guest) is about 66% of Dom0 (host) for Xen as a generat rule of thumb. You have to also consider that are people are also using the node, so the I/O is fair.

    FAPVPS 2GB KVM

@fapvps oh hell, it was clarified yesterday that everything you posted was legit. Your benchmarks and everything else that you have posted are legit, very much so. Just my opinion: I think that allot of people are giving you a hard time because of your business name, and because how you are...

@ as you'd imagine I don't know anything about Fiberhub so I said what anyone would say that's just observing things. Anyway, Vegas can't ever get enough electricity to feed it's hunger for power. So it's not that big of a surprise that it happened there. From what I know about Vegas (and I...

I don't think that we should derail the thread with Fiberhub's electrical issues. I'm glad that Francisco and Aldryic were on top of it and everything is back to normal. That being said, if there was anything that today's incident has shown us then it is that this forum needs proper funding so...

@ I'm sure that a few donations will cover that in no time... wait, what if next month there won't be any or not enough?
