    I prefer OpenVZ.

Just OpenVZ, our control panel (Wyvern) is strictly OpenVZ only.

    Work form home? Simple enough

We started using VDIs at work which is much much better than lugging around a work laptop and easier than logging into the VPN. I've got the Citrix Receiver app on my tablet so I can even use that if I don't want to power up my home laptop.

The dropdown menu will list any available nodes including the nodes in the same location as your current one. Migration will require a reboot of the VPS and the control panel will be locked out to prevent any changes during the migration but you can still SSH into the VPS during the migration.

It's really based on how large the VPS is and the connection speed. We've been discussing throttling the network speed to prevent bandwidth overages since their is no throttling outside of the VPSs and some of our clients have 30+ VPSs that could make a dent in our 95% percent if they wanted to...

    Work form home? Simple enough

I would rather work at my desk than work from home. It's just easier with less distractions and I can listen to my music or watch my movies as loud as I want without waking people up. Heck, even on holidays when I have the night off I still go into work with some pizza and Netflix, the...

We figured this would be good for when we open a new location and we usually get a handful of requests to migrate to the new location. Recently though people haven't even been opening tickets, they just cancel one VPS and order a new one but since we don't offer refunds they end up losing money...

Here are the limitations I've come up with to prevent abuse (not set in stone): Limit 1 migration per day per VPS. Limit 3 free migrations per month per VPS. If a client needs to migrate their VPS beyond the 3 free migrations per month, they can purchase an additional 3 migrations for $3...

We don't manage DNS. This is up to the client to manage. Nope, new IP since each location has different subnets. We have built in checks for that so if it's on the list it's available.

Since we're expanding to a few locations I figured something like this might be interesting for those who want to move their VPS around. Thoughts? I was thinking of putting some limitations on it like X number of migrations per day/week/month.

Colo@ and SecureDragon Clifton, New Jersey Issues / Migration

I always thought WireSix was TSS's dedicated server brand. Possibly different levels of support depending on the brand/service? Either way, both Ryan and Auggie have been very helpful to us during a very stressful few months and at least now we have 2 contacts to assist us if we run into any...

Colo@ and SecureDragon Clifton, New Jersey Issues / Migration

Thanks for opening this thread @drmike, we got a really nice offer for a new location that we're shipping a server to tomorrow and should be online next Friday after a 48 hour burn-in. DIVERSITY! Edit: We're not moving away from COLO@, just want to make that clear to avoid confusion.

That's strange that it's not like this for any other location. I'll make some adjustments to our monitoring.

All of the HP Microservers I've seen are at least $350.

Just go with Synology. Cheaper hardware and costs less than $10/year in power.

Auggie (Director of Business Development) responded to our ticket and made things right by us and assured us that these oversights will not happen again. I cancelled my request to have our AZ server shipped back to us so we do plan on continuing our business relationship with COLO@. I'm glad...

Colo@ and SecureDragon Clifton, New Jersey Issues / Migration

After taking a moment to collect my thoughts and type up a ticket to the COLO@ management. I'm able to better reflect on the situation and instead of focusing on all of the negative things we've experienced thus far, I'll focus on the good things that came from this: 1) I found a bandwidth...

After purposely going to bed as soon as I got home this morning for fear of losing my temper, I am still furious right now at this whole situation. Since we still have servers in production in their other data centers I'm just going to hold my tongue and pretend this never happened.

I've been considering making a "Wyvern Lite" open source script. Any interest in collaborating on that?
