The following email was just sent out to our dedicated server clients. VPS clients in Buffalo will be receiving a similar email shortly.
Hello {Name Here},
We are contacting you today to inform you that we have terminated our colocation contract in Buffalo, NY. We have reached this difficult decision after facing several issues including but not limited to network peering issues, network latency issues, and misunderstandings with their onsite staff regarding hardware swaps. We have also had numerous clients express concerns about this location.
As such, we are excited to announce we have signed a contract with Telehouse America in New York City to house our east coast network. Telehouse is essentially a fresh slate for us as well as our clients. This location will allow us to connect to a number of additional network carriers and will give us direct control to the product we offer. In addition we will now have redundant power circuits in our cabinet which will further improve our infrastructure.
The downside to this move is that we will be forced to physically move our server and network hardware across New York State from Buffalo to New York City. This move is planned to take place overnight from March 23rd into March 24th, 2014. This process is anticipated to take around 8 hours, from the first server going offline to the last server coming back online, however we cannot predict the future, and it may take a few extra hours. During this time your server will be offline and un-usable. We aim to make this process as quick and easy as possible while ensuring that your server and the data within is not damaged. In addition to the physical move, this will require a change in your servers IP addresses. The new IP addresses will be sent to individual clients later this week.
We realize this is a very large inconvenience to some clients, however it is no longer feasible for our company to maintain an infrastructure in Buffalo. Once the move is complete the positive benefits should become immediately apparent. We will be sending further information regarding this transition in the coming week so keep your eye out for future emails from us. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us by ticket.
Thanks,
Management
