    free 35 minute vps's

Unsurprisingly, the termination is not done client side, although I'm unsure how it is done. The VM stays up for another 30 seconds or so after the timer runs out, after which it's terminated. I imagine this is both a client and server side grace period, counted down on both simultaneously until...

    free 35 minute vps's

I'm doing a little digging right now. I just clicked the "get 5 more minutes" button on one, and no AJAX request went out to the server (one went to Google Analytics, but not to instant-server.io), which makes me wonder if the destruction is triggered client side. If that's the case, then it...

    free 35 minute vps's

At a penny an hour, DigitalOcean might as well be free for that quick test. I agree about Amazon though. BTW the IP you're given does not respond to pings (times out), as I found out when I tried to set up a HE IPv6 tunnel.

    free 35 minute vps's

Interesting... It works, but I'm having trouble figuring out what you'd do in 35 minutes (an arbitrary time period, if you ask me). And this:

    Best vps tutorial site?

Just what I was going to recommend. Best part is, if you see that they're missing a useful tutorial, you can write it for them and make $50.

I'll leave Windows 8 on it, but also dual-boot Ubuntu 13.04.

    Ideas and suggestions for vpsBoard

Though a logo might be nice, I like the site like it is. The provider poll is a good idea though. I would be interested to see a few logo mockups once designed to get a feel for what a logo could look like.

    How To Contact Support, Properly.

WHMCS allows closing tickets, and AFAIK they don't allow response by e-mail. So if I'm in a WHMCS client area reading the response, it makes perfect sense to say "thanks" and close the ticket. And since WHMCS is so popular, that's pretty much always how it ends up.

    Getting a new laptop today

I'm getting a new laptop today. It's the HP Envy m6-1225dx from Best Buy. i5 processor, 8GB memory, 750GB hard drive (though I might spring for an SSD in it), backlit keyboard, 5.3lbs (2.4kg). Seems like a nice machine, what do you guys think?

    ChicagoVPS | 2 NEW LOCATIONS! | Dallas, New Jersey | $4 1GB VPS

Both those DCs offer IPv6, but I suppose it would be too much trouble for CVPS to offer it. :(

What are features you as a client want to see

Generally I agree, especially from a design perspective (terribly designed panels like VirtPanel). I have seen several providers that do it/are doing it right though. If you have the resources to make a truly good panel with all the features that other people are asking for, by all means go...

How do you track your own VPS collection

The domain tracking/DNS portion is finished. Server tracking is just getting started. Domain part (with full DNS system) took a month, I expect the server portion, which is more just listing, will take two weeks, then another week integrating the two. After that I'll release as open source...

What are features you as a client want to see

Back on topic indeed. Offloaded MySQL and DNS are nice, but I've never had a use for them personally. It does show that a provider is forward thinking. I also like free backup space, that will generally be useful for anyone.

How do you feel about the NSA spying?

How do I feel? Meh... Government is government. TBH if I were in charge, I'd do this just 'cause I could If I was bored one day. This is not the "if you have nothing to hide..." mindset, it's the "they have way too much data now to be bothered sifting through it for my junk" mindset. I'm not...

Affordable Webhosting Gets Better With Age

I'm trying to figure out if this is an expansion announcement or an offer. Or both. Or neither. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're doing well, but try to clarify what the point of this post is.

One last koding.com invite - who wants it?

I've sent you an invite. I've now given out all of my three invites, but that also means there should now be nine new invites hanging around. Be generous folks! Also, be sure to check spam - it seems invites end up there a lot.

How do you track your own VPS collection

I'm working on a project that will integrate VPS tracking (hostnames, providers, billing info, IPs, etc.) with DNS (add A and AAAA records autocompleted from stored VPS info). When it's done, tracking VMs will be trivial.

    How To Contact Support, Properly.

As a client, that's what I usually do as well. Good to know it works out well that way from the provider's end. As @Abdussamad mentioned, I don't want a mere "thank you" message knocking the ticket back up to the top of the queue unnecessarily.
