Help to make diaspora installation one step on debian

I too agree with the domination of paypal in the online payment space, but here in India, paypal has got restrictions and as far as I know, Praveen doesn't have a paypal account. Anyway, I'll convey this to him and hope he can figure an alternative solution.

Help to make diaspora installation one step on debian

Praveen started it as a hobby, almost 2 years back. The issue about diaspora is that it depends on so many ruby gems, and many have lots of dependencies. I tried joining him sometime back, but the process is not that easy and I gave up. Within the 2 years, many things were achieved, including...

Help to make diaspora installation one step on debian

The campaign was set so, just because we have restrictions using paypal in India and not many of the popular crowd funding sites accepts payments like Bitcoin. The bank account is listed for those who can make a direct bank deposit too. @drmike what else do you suggest for payments? I can pass...

Help to make diaspora installation one step on debian

Hi Guys, As many of you have seen before, I try my best to promote Diaspora, the distributed social network and is the place where I am most active. Recently, a friend of mine who was a RedHat Senior SysAdmin and a Debian Developer started a crowd funding campaign to make Diaspora installation...

Linux Desktop Email Client - What folks are loving lately.

Thunderbird here too, with Calender, Task and Contact plugins. Its easy to have a single setup which syncs with my ownCloud contacts and mail. The memory usage has been high, but to get rid of that, I archive old unwanted mails and keep them out of Thunderbird and uses the web client, whenever I...

    VPS with cPanel

Crissic has been great for me. Have a 2GB OVZ with cPanel running for almost 6 months. No issues. Bought the license when it was $11, now it seems to be $12 as @drmike pointed out. Their OVZ1024 plan with cPanel will cost you $18 per month, with 150GB disk and 3TB Bandwidth.

    Linux AV capture / streaming?

Try the ffmpeg library too. VLC works with most detected devices, but for some, you might need to compile it yourself. I used to play with an easycap device for a while, before I purchased a blackmagic pci card.

Low performance dedi for backup, preferably outside US

1 IP will be good enough, but if the server can support OpenVZ, I can play with VM's for specific backup purposes. I have seen offers around the range for similar specs, both here and on LET. Also, I have an offer for the same spec from a member here, unfortunately they are out of stock now...

Low performance dedi for backup, preferably outside US

I prefer a physical system as I can be sure that the network speeds will be stable throughout the day. The processor performance is not a big deal and I think its possible to do atom based servers at that rate. A single 2TB drive will cost less than two 1TB's right? Correct me if I am wrong...

Low performance dedi for backup, preferably outside US

Looking for a low performance dedi primarily for backup and for testing, if OpenVZ works. Atoms will be fine. 4GB RAM preferred 2TB HDD 5TB @ 100Mbps (Gigabit with same bandwidth will be great) /29 IPv4 IPv6 Billing Period: Semiannually Price Range: Around $75 Semiannually I had...

Whats Your Monthly Mobile Data Use

I typically used to limit the 3G data usage to around 500MB per month. Since I moved to new location, whenever the office Internet goes down, everyone connects to my mobile and so, for last two months, its around 4 to 5GB.

Exactly the same setup I use. Have been using Debian in desktops too, but found Mint more polished.

    Happy Diwali

Happy Diwali to all. Almost new in the city of Bangalore and sad that nobody gifted me with sweets.  Yesterday, it was very loud over here with all of the city competing on crackers. Hope I'll get a good sleep today.
