What do you consider valid justification for IP space?

IE on Windows XP and below doesn't support it. Get Chrome or Firefox on Windows XP and you're good to go though. Anything newer, Mac or Linux, and you can count on SNI. It was just IE that took a while longer (surprise surprise). As a webmaster if you're wanting to ensure SSL works in a...

ICANN suspends Brandon Gray Internet Services (AKA Domain Registry of America, DROC, etc)

I've only gotten about three of these, ever, even though I own ~25 domains, very few with privacy. Still annoying, though. Good to see them being shut down, possibly for good. I do wonder what will happen to all the domains that are under their "management" due to customer ignorance. For that...

Do you sell domain names too?

As a customer, I do not buy domains from providers. To my knowledge, most of the providers I use don't even offer them, but if they did, it would be a no-go for me. I can stand to lose a VPS since I back everything up, but to run the risk of losing a domain? No thank you.

    What's your car?

A shitty, beat up bike and shitty, beat up city buses. Both are free, though, so there's that. Of course, I don't get out much anyway :) In the interest of full disclosure (since I don't care if Internet strangers know), I don't even have my license. I just started working on it because it seems...

    Domain for sale

Very much a "nerdy" or "techy" domain here. I grabbed this domain when some of the first new TLDs were coming online. This one was registered right at the beginning of .technology domain availability: Feb. 19, 2014. It is registered for one year, so has about 7 months remaining. It is registered...

    BlueVM Change of Ownership?

I'll tell you how you can know for sure: if an announcement goes out that the Zurich location is being closed (ahem) migrated, then you be 100% sure that Justin is no longer "100% Owner, CEO, Manager".

Malaysia Airlines 777 crash - round two

Looks like Malaysia airlines has lost another 777, this one over Ukraine. Early reports indicate that it was shot down upon arriving in Ukrainian airspace. I would link to an article, but all the news sites seem to be overloaded already. Wikipedia already has an article about it.

    Need a new keyboard

I currently use and AmazonBasics USB wired keyboard. I don't believe it has any special ergonomic features, but I've had no problems with it in that regard and I find it to be a decent-quality keyboard for cheap - typical of the AmazonBasics line.

    DigitalOcean Planning UK Location

London has officially arrived! From the e-mail: Full blog post I'm glad to see they have IPv6. Hope that gets "spread around" to their other locations soon! Have a read of the comments on the blog post though - some interesting discussions going on there about future locations and VAT compliance.

Idiots on Kickstarter Crowd Fund Potato Salad

I would certainly imagine it would be taxed somewhere along the line, if he's honest. Kickstarter handles payments through Amazon Payments, which requires your SSN to sign up for tax reporting purposes. Anyway, with this all over the "news", you can be sure that ~$50,000 (as of now) is being...

What can I buy for exactly $8.03?

I found an old prepaid AMEX gift card today left over from a mail in rebate a while back. I checked the balance, and it has exactly $8.03 on it. Any suggestions? Tech goodies or the like are great. I know I could buy credit at one of my VPS providers, but I'd love to get some sort of physical item.

Idiots on Kickstarter Crowd Fund Potato Salad

According to  Kickstarter's T&C, you can't directly donate the money raised to charity. But if you buy a new oufit every day and donate it after wearing to goodwill or the like, that would work really well! I bet you could swing it, but that's a lot of shopping.

Idiots on Kickstarter Crowd Fund Potato Salad

How about a "project" to eat out 3 meals a day for one year? Nice and self-centered, should only need about $11,000 (365 day * 3 meals * $10/meal).

Idiots on Kickstarter Crowd Fund Potato Salad

I didn't think that was possible. And even if it is, why would so many people do it so suddenly? No, I think something else is up here.

Idiots on Kickstarter Crowd Fund Potato Salad

Well that's weird - he just dropped about $30k? Like @drmike said, he has $70k earlier, now he's down around $42k. Where'd all that money go?

    $1.79/Year VPS - 32MB - 1.5GB HDD

Which HE.net tunnel server are you using? Why not more templates (Ubuntu would be great)? Why no SSH access over IPv6?

Idiots on Kickstarter Crowd Fund Potato Salad

This is insane. We're talking a decent living for a year, just because he asked for $10 to make potato salad. This guy has no legal obligations to the donors. He can just take the money and buy a really nice car. By the time this is over, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has enough for a...
