I think many (including me) prefer to have more free RAM to take care of any unexpected spikes in usage. Also, people here do run multiple websites/applications on same VPS.

I am actually on reverse trend i.e. expanding the collection at the moment :)

  I was wrong. It is the SOA record that is showing the email address (domain's admin email as entered). I just realized that even Rage4 displays email address in SOA record of the domains added :(

  Yes, we need to sign up with RackSpace with a CC to be able to use this free service. Something that concerned me was that they show email address in the TXT record of the domains we add. Of course we can give a fake one too.

  The OP seems to lack exposure to managing/configuring server. So it is a good idea to start with 1GB and learn tuning it. If he starts with small RAM initially, he might quickly curse himself for not going with a managed service. In my own case, I went with 1GB one when I just started with...

While I do not have any experience with Managed VPS Services (too expensive for me), I can suggest you WiredTree whom about I heard great feedback. Their entry level plan is feature packed and slightly expensive at $44.10/mo (check out on WHT for discount). Personally I would pick a 1 GB plan...

@TheLinuxBug, I read in a few places that people are running sites on Apache while using Nginx as a reverse proxy. What do you think works better - Varnish or Nginx proxy?
