GreenValueHost forced password reset - Security breach?

So you were working undercover for that outsourcing support firm in India, that's how you got access to an admin account for their WHMCS? :)

GreenValueHost forced password reset - Security breach?

I don't know how many clients they have, but i can't imagine someone (an admin) being able to go through the list of all their clients and manually click on the "reset & set password" link for each client, all this in a minute or so. Must have been scripted / automated.

    SecureDragon VPS 1+ Year Review

I don't understand why Hulu would bother to block the IPs. Don't you need to pay hulu subscription to watch it? So they want to have less subscriptions?

GreenValueHost forced password reset - Security breach?

Are the passwords in the 8 emails different, or the same? Which one actually works in their billing system - the first one or the last one?

GreenValueHost forced password reset - Security breach?

I don't know how Mandrill works, but does it add headers that show where (what IP) the email was sent from? I am wondering whether it was their main WHMCS that sent out the emails, or another one (say their dev WHMCS, where other data from non-customers could have been imported).

GreenValueHost forced password reset - Security breach?

There is a setting in WHMCS which says how to store the passwords in the database. I imagine if someone accidently changes this setting, this should result in a mass password reset. I haven't tried this myself though, so not sure. Just a thought.

$200 if somebody can solve this IP problem.

@ not here. When you work for a company (and no other incomes) you don't need to fill tax declarations, the employer automatically deducts the tax from your salary and pays it every month. Besides i don't need the money. I still make more than my wife spends ;-) And i haven't worked hard...

Right now i don't have to fill and submit yearly tax declarations, because my only income is from salary from my employer and in this...

IP Jacking : My experience / story / testing

If the DC doesn't put each customer on their own VLAN, they fully deserve all the potential problems they could get. We even put each Raspberry Pi in a separate VLAN.

$200 if somebody can solve this IP problem.

Yes, it would also make sense that the DC should be able to figure out what is going on and advise the customer how to fix it. Obviously it didn't happen. Who knows what low pay employee is answering the tickets and if he knows where to look?
