    Usernames used by people here

This is really strange to me, as a Dutch person. As far as I know, "no credit history" translates to "clean credit history" in NL. EDIT: @HalfEatenPie! You're double-posting, as an admin!

    IRC ZNC setup help needed.

No thanks. I have absolutely no desire to move to a proprietary/commercial platform :) Your ZNC connects to the IRC network even if you have never connected to your ZNC with a client - that's just how it works :) I should say that the notification behaviour you describe can also be gotten with...

    IRC ZNC setup help needed.

ZNC just pretends to be the IRC server, and transparently proxies your messages/commands (as well as staying online and potentially remembering offline messages depending on your configuration). It works with any regular IRC client. I'd go so far as to say that IRCCloud is really just a ZNC...

    IRC ZNC setup help needed.

Per client -> ZNC connection, you can only be connecting to one 'real' IRC network. In other words, for every IRC network you're connecting to, you need to have a separate connection to your ZNC. If you go to the 'Edit' page for a network, it should show you the syntax for connecting to that...

hudsonvallyhost.com Review - Attempted Spam VPS

It was similar for me. I can't stand ColoCrossing, but this is so obviously bullshit, it's ridiculous.

Mozilla bundles proprietary extension with Firefox

Well, depends. The Great Suspender has a 'screenshot mode', where it'll show you a static snapshot of the page, until you click it (at which point it restores the page). It's a bit RAM-hungry through, is my understanding, so kind of defeats the point :) Anyhow, interesting to see that as a...

Huh. Does that work like The Great Suspender?

Functional programming in Javascript: map, filter and reduce

Cross-posted from my blog, where the formatting is a lot nicer :) You can reuse, redistribute, remix etc. under the WTFPL/CC0, as usual. Though you should probably get it from my blog, rather than here - it's rather hard to get the formatting right in IPB's editor, unfortunately. Feedback is...

    Venom Security Vulnerability

The same applies for a physical server. And "encrypting" in and of itself isn't going to do anything, unless you actually have a split architecture where encryption is automatic but decryption is not (eg. using public key cryptography). Anything else is security theater.

Mozilla bundles proprietary extension with Firefox

And apparently some form of Adobe DRM was bundled on Windows at well. I don't know the specifics of that one, though.

Mozilla bundles proprietary extension with Firefox

So... after adding advertising to the start screen, planning to disable installation of extensions from third party sources and deciding to break the open web followed by half-assed excuses that miss the point, here's Mozilla's next step: bundling integration with a proprietary service in...

Mozilla announces the death of unencrypted HTTP

Mozilla is increasingly going in a direction I don't like.

BlueVM sold / change of ownership? (UPDATE 5/14: Now owned by ChicagoVPS)

Changing the payment details before informing the clients. Sounds like good old ColoCrossing.

Doubtful. Vendors typically get advance notice.

Mozilla announces the death of unencrypted HTTP

Unfortunately, Firefox still doesn't seem to support process isolation for different tabs. That alone is enough reason for me not to use it. I used it on somebody elses system for a few days while travelling, and all my tabs vanished twice in two days. That's just not doable for me.

Node.js code review and (private) tutoring

After having helped people out in #Node.js on Freenode for a while, I figured out that I actually quite enjoy reviewing code and teaching people, and there aren't really any ethical concerns either. So... I've turned that into paid work :) The 'canonical' page with information about this is...

    E3-1230 16GB Ram, 4 x 1 TB HDD, 100TB BW, KVM/IPMI, Leaseweb DC

I'd suggest considering a name change. I understand that it may have sentimental value, but first and foremost you're running a business, and I suspect it may be seriously putting off a good amount of people from trying your service. It's your choice of course, just providing a different...
