    thread for buffalooed to investigate

ServerMania baby!  Lowendbox can't stop posting offers for these asshats.  Wondering if these folks are deep partners with Colocrossing in a special way.  Seems to the be the method of their madness lately. 100mbit/sec = CVPS calling card. Renting from CVPS or CC directly -- is their really...

NSA project, "X-Keyscore" collects nearly everything you do on the internet.

Fuck the NSA rectally. I lol'd in horror about a person who received a visit from the FBI over their Google searches on the family computer.  Yes, someone searched for pressure cooker recipes, backpacks (their son had probably readying for the upcoming school year) and quinoa (a South American...

Good qualifications for hosting/internet related jobs?

Education?   College?  Nah.  That is way too little way too late -- especially in fast moving tech sector. Best thing you could do is apprentice with someone for a year or two in an existing Linux/Unix shop --- ideally data/hosting centric.   In lieu of that, get to reading and tinkering.  ...

    Looking for a VPS node

Dual Quad Xeons + 16GB of RAM and a few 1-4TB drives and/or SSD.  Should be tons of those for $50-80 on Webhostingtalk.

    Budget Phone Service

I don't consider any of these re-occurring extortion plans as bargains.  They are bills and often preceded by long contracts that make marriage look short term.   Heck, average mortgage lasts 7 years, but they hook and crook you for 2 years on a cell phone.  No thanks, I'll continue divorcing...

Zimmerman found not guilty.... Your thoughts?

Let the urban filth kill and burn their paradises to the ground. Unsure why sane folks haven't followed the many decades pattern (50+ years) in the United States --- flee the cities you dolts!

Zimmerman found not guilty.... Your thoughts?

Justice served.   IT pawn fired in the process for hiding/not releasing info to the defense team.   Obama / Justice Department allegedly spent tax money to organize protests earlier in this circus.  Ho hum.  Some sort of divide and conquer race baiting.   Strange since Zimmerman is Hispanic with...

    SwiftVM Shutting Down

Yeah saw these folks on LEB.  Intel Xeon E3 1270v2 CPU, 32GB ECC DDR3 RAM and 4 X 512GB SSD RAID10 (Samsung 840Pro drives).  512SSD LEB, 25GB SSD $5/mo 1024SSD LEB, 20GB SSD $7/mo Neither of those packages are competitors for the lowest price awards at Lowend. The problem is the pure SSD...

    Joepie91 got a FBI/HTCU raid...

I just hate the long tangled arms of US "Justice". Someone needs to produce the info needed to secure such a seizure warrant. I don't condone criminal activity by citizens nor governments. US "cop" being present = very bad sign.

    Power Outage: Residential

4.5 hours runtime at 50% load. That's the problem with many generators.  The runtime is rated at 50% of total capacity.   The small tank on board coupled together with a small oil tank means if with some tinkering, your DIY runtime extender has real limitations. I never understood why they...

Internap public cloud - I'm as mad as Gordon Ramsays

Thanks to @andrewboring!    It warms my heart to see companies providing support and details out in public like this. Lots of folks just misunderstand the cloud concept and make wrong comparisons. Care to comment on the SAN you have implemented and general slowness?   Bonded Gbit I assume.

    Whats your home connection speed?

I use one of the cable monopolies and it SUCKS. Can't determine what their plans really are, nor can I determine what I am being provisioned at.  Tons of congestion, QoS and lousy routing.   Price keeps going up and up for no good reason.  $70 a month for a plan that has upload side of 1Mbps...

Routing my incoming traffic through my vps

Assuming what I just posted in the situation, you could simply install Nginx on the remote VPS and enable reverse proxy for both HTTP and FTP. Beyond that, if you require all traffic, then something more exotic like a tunnel combined with iptables rules is probably the route to go.

Routing my incoming traffic through my vps

Definitely need more clarification on this need. So you have a remote VPS and a computer which is local to you (at home). You want to advertise the public VPS address and have that magically pipe the traffic invisibly over to your home computer right?
